What is Nexiq eTechnician?
Nexiq eTechnician is a multi-brand, dealer-level diagnostic software designed for diagnosing and servicing heavy-duty (Class 7-8) and medium-duty (Class 3-6) commercial vehicles. It provides advanced diagnostics, parameter adjustments, and ECU programming for engines, transmissions, brakes, and body controllers in trucks and commercial fleets.
Nexiq eTechnician is available in two versions:
eTechnician HD
For heavy-duty trucks using J1939/J1708 protocols.
eTechnician LMT
For light- & medium-duty trucks using OBD-II protocols.

How to Use Nexiq eTechnician
A. Connecting to a Truck ECM
1. Install eTechnician Software on a Windows 10/11 laptop.
2. Plug in your adapter (Nexiq USB Link 2, DG Tech DPA5, etc.).
3. Turn the ignition ON (engine OFF).
4. Open Nexiq eTechnician and select Connect to ECM
5. Choose the correct ECU type (J1939, J1708, CAN Bus, OBD-II).
6. The software will display ECU details, fault codes, and live data.
Key Diagnostic Functions in Nexiq eTechnician
A. Reading & Clearing Fault Codes
1. Navigate to Diagnostics fault Codes.
2. Select active or historical codes.
3. Click View Details for troubleshooting guides.
4. Click Clear Faults after repairs.
B. Performing a Forced DPF Regen
1. Go to Aftertreatment Service.
2. Select DPF Regeneration and follow on-screen prompts.
3. Monitor exhaust temperature and soot load (regen takes ~45 minutes).
C. Adjusting ECM Parameters (Idle, Speed, Fuel Settings)
1. Navigate to ECM Parameters.
2. Modify settings for idle RPM, governor limits, fuel delivery, speed control.
3. Click Save Changes and restart the ECM.
D. Transmission Relearn & Clutch Calibration
1. Go to Transmission Service Adaptive Learning Reset.
2. Follow the on-screen prompts and perform a test drive.
